My son came home from school yesterday all proud of himself. "I was good today, Mama. Look! I even got a roach!" He held up a plastic orange and yellow beetle.
"Great, Bubba! What did you do that was so good?"
"I paid real close attention to my teacher."
I nodded. "You should do that every day."
He shook his head. "I don't think I can, Mama. I had to move my head everywhere she went to keep an eye on her. And now I have a neck cramp!"
Learn to follow with the eyes, like those old black and white cat clocks.
ReplyDeleteThen he'd have an eyeball cramp!
DeleteHah! His neck couldn't have been cramping that hard, if he was able to shake his head in answer to you... XD
ReplyDeleteHa! Very astute observation!
DeleteYes, don't you know it's bad for you to pay too much attention? LOL!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a hazard to your health!
DeleteSo cute. Don't you love the things kids say. Great N vignette. Enjoy. Maria from Delight Directed Living
ReplyDeleteKids are pretty funny!
DeleteBOYS! I have two:) They love their bugs! It would be hard for my boys to pay attention, bugs or not.
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly a challenge for Bubba. Other things are far more interesting!
DeleteLOL! I'm proud of him right along with you. My son would be the one who can't sit still to save his life. Literally.
ReplyDeleteTrue Heroes from A to Z
Bubba usually has problems with that, too. That he paid such close attention shocked me!
DeleteYour son is amazing, I would love to meet him, Sherry. I wish my students followed me that way :(
ReplyDeleteMy boy is quite a character. I think you'd like him.
DeleteThis reminds me of one of my daughters. She was told she had to read for 20 minutes without looking around at school. She hated it.
ReplyDeleteSo neat you are recording bubba's moments in life. You can look back later and laugh again. Kids say the darnest things!
ReplyDeleteBubba has been a lot of fun. I'm sure we'll both enjoy reading about his antics in the future!
Deletehe's a paid stalker, a professional stalker
ReplyDeleteHaha! I'd better watch that one!
DeleteYou couldn't write dialog that perfect.
ReplyDeleteHe certainly has some lines, doesn't he?
DeletePoor guy. I guess he did what he was told, which is to pay attention.
ReplyDeleteWho knew paying attention was such hard work!
DeleteAwww...poor Bubba. Paying attention and following the teacher's word is so hard!
ReplyDeleteNas
Indeed it is!
DeleteHehe! Perhaps he needs to learn to pay more attention with his ears than his eyes (and neck movements).
ReplyDeleteI think somehow his ears and eyes are connected. One doesn't work without the other. ;0)
DeleteHa, neck cramp. The hazards of paying attention in school!!
ReplyDeleteLife at school can be tough!
DeleteSounds like the ears need more practise... LOL
ReplyDeleteYes. Exercise those muscles!
DeleteAww! What a cool teacher to reward him with a colorful roach. :)
ReplyDeleteI think the treasure box is a good motivational tool to encourage kids to behave.
DeleteA neck cramp! Well, maybe he will risk it for another cool toy....:D
ReplyDeleteSmart teacher:)
Plastic roaches always make getting a neck cramp worth it.
DeleteHe has a point there Sherry. Neck cramps can cause trouble in later life perhaps he thought of that.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
So I take it you know about these things? ;0)
DeleteI wouldn't do it!
