The Klutz Alarm

I don't function very well at 5:00 in the morning.  This morning was a particularly bad start.  By 5:13 AM, I had broken a bowl, spilled yogurt all over my kitchen floor, dropped two spoons, and caused a bottle of Coke to fall out of my refrigerator on to the floor. (I made a mental note not to open that bottle.  But of course by 5:00 tomorrow morning, I will have forgotten my mental note.)

Being completely discombobulated, I neglected to awaken my son at the appropriate time.  Fortunately, the breaking and dropping of things was enough of a commotion to awaken him from his deep slumber.

He came downstairs, rubbing his eyes. "Mama, why didn't you come and wake me up?"

"Bubba, I don't think I need to.  You're already up."

He stared at me on my hands and knees, cleaning up the last of the yogurt.  "Yeah," he said.  "You're right.  The klutz alarm went off!"

  2. At that point, just go back to bed and start over. Yeah, I have to get up around five in the morning and my brain doesn't function well then either.

  7. What a way to start the day, .......that's still night time for me. What an early start to the day, is that EVERY day?

  8. No one should be up at 5 a.m. unless there's a need for a quick pee and then straight back to bed. Bubba needs to set his alarm, get himself ready for school, and depart to get on the school bus. No reason for you to be involved in all that foolishness.

  10. On these kind of days you just have to take deep breaths, over and over again. And tell yourself everything will be ok.

  13. I believe there isn't any orthodox belief for such start of the day. Even if there is, we shouldn't taken by belief. Hope rest of your day went well.

    1. I didn't break anything else, so I would say, based on that, that the rest of my day went well. ;0)

  14. I don't function until noon but at one job, I'm scheduled around 11:30 and the other one, I open a lot at 10 but have to set up at 9:30. The people at Starbucks are starting to recognize me. The cinnamon dolce frappuccinno changed my life. Try it.

  16. Klutz alarm, I like that... Mine is generally the pooch alarm who always seems to need to go out 15 minutes before the alarm rings.

    1. Schultz is not a morning person, so I don't have to worry about the pooch alarm, unless he happens to spot a deer grazing outside the window.

  18. That is brilliant. You have a very quick-witted son! Also, I'm glad I'm not the only klutz in the mornings. I went to put washing detergent in my cup of tea a few days ago...
