Answers to Your Questions and the Impossible Breakfast Challenge

Thanks for your comments on the last post.  As promised, I will answer the questions you asked.

1.  What is my favorite Star Wars film?  That's a tough one, because there are so many good ones.  I'll have to go with Star Wars Episode V.  Harrison Ford is Han Solo, and Carrie Fisher is Princess Leia.  This is probably the darkest of the series, but I like it because it introduces Yoda.  And Yoda is cool.

2.  What Debussy piece did I play for the pageant?  Deux Arabesque No. 1

3.  How do you pronounce, "Debussy"?  duh-byoo-SEE

4.  Is there anything I'm scared to do?  Well, let's see.  I hadn't really thought about it, but now that I have, here's what I've come up with:

. Swimming with piranhas, crocodiles, or great white sharks

. High diving off a cliff into water

. Skiing on dangerous terrain

. Drag racing (going super fast in a car makes me nervous)

. Walking over hot coals with bare feet

. Tightrope walking across the Grand Canyon

. Cave Diving in unexplored places.  Actually, I really don't like cave diving.  I did a little of it when I was a SCUBA diving instructor, and I hated the closed spaces and not being able to see well.  Getting stuck was a huge worry.

If any of you missed the opportunity to ask me questions, and want to do so, leave them in the comment section, and I'll answer them one more time.

Now for the story:

My son and I were sitting at the table having breakfast when he posed this question:  "Mama,  have you ever taken the impossible breakfast challenge?"

I looked at him.  "Dude.  I have no idea what the impossible breakfast challenge is."

"It's when you try to play Flappy Bird and eat your food at the same time."

"No," I replied.  "I don't play video games while I eat."

"That's good, " he said.  "Because I saw a video of someone who did, and he threw all his food on the floor because he got really mad at the Flappy Birds."

Oh. So I guess the moral of this story is, don't eat and do video games at the same time.  It's hazardous to one's floor.

  2. No Flappy Bird pancakes for you.
Who would want to walk a tightrope over the Grand Canyon? Someone with a death wish.
And I agree - The Empire Strikes Back is the best of the movies.

    1. I saw a guy tightrope over the Grand Canyon. And it was extremely windy! I don't know how he did it, but he did.

  3. Hello,

These are brilliant answers. In the town of Kochi where I live, I am scared to cross the road even on the zebra crossing because the motorists increase their speed when I start to walk on the crossing.

You have written a very hilarious story with a moral in it. I hope video game addicts will take note of it.

    Best wishes

  4. I would be terrified of swimming with those things you mentioned.

  5. Episode 5 is the best indeed. Tight rope walking across the grand canyon I would never do, at least without a parachute. Schultz would like if everything got chucked on the floor I'm sure

  6. *LOL* It's a rule in our house that nothing is eaten while playing video games!

    1. Otherwise nothing would get eaten - everybody would be too busy playing video games!

  7. I love the moral of this story - good thing I don't play Flappy Bird ;)

    1. I don't, either, so I guess I don't have to worry about my food ending up on the floor. ;0)

  8. You're very brave, Sherry. You've done lots of scary things already. Glad we all know what happens when you eat breakfast and play video games at the same time.

  9. oh I have been cliff diving....it is a rush....I would def have a problem swimming with piranha....they are far too hungry...ha....empire strikes back is the best, I believe...though I really enjoyed the radio version...

    1. You've done cliff diving? Wow! You're either really brave or really crazy. (Or both!)

  10. Ooh, I'm with you about your swimming fears. I would NEVER get into any body of water with any of those water buddies. Nope. No way.... Call me chicken, but great whites eat chickens. And piranha....

  11. What a fun post- I have a question for you. What is your favorite piece to play, if you could only pick one?

    1. Oh wow. That is so tough! I'm going to go with the Valse Brillant in Ab Major by Chopin.

  12. I have to agree... "Empire Strikes Back" is by far the best Star Wars.

  13. We won't try the impossible breakfast... nor lunch...
PS, sister, methinks your optical mouse is broken a bit, since you've been leaving double comments all around the blogosphere for a week now :)

  14. How do you feel about walking over coals with socks on?

  15. Hahaha, yeah, or there is a good deal of distraction and the food ends up on the floor without the anger.

  16. If you really are that emotional about your video games, you probably should avoid eating while playing. Or holding a sensitive electronic device while playing, for that matter!

  17. I probably won't, but I could probably try flappy bird and eating at the same time. My best friend, a furry little gal, sits close by the table, watching and patiently waiting until mealtime is over, when a scrap or two might be tossed her way. :-) She'd clean up any mess on the floor there was, if it had to do with food.

    1. As long as you have a furry friend to clean up, it might not be so bad.

  18. No SCUBA diving for me--ever. I have forbidden my children. My father had a cousin who died SCUBA diving. She got trapped in a cave.

    1. I could see forbidding cave diving. In my underwater travels, I've seen many signs near cave entrances warning divers of the danger, and informing about how many people died in those caves. Scary stuff!

  19. I would be more concerned about that waste of food!

  20. We watched a video of native people of South America catching piranha. The just stood on a little board that jutted over the water and held some sort of butchered byproduct over the water and dipped it. In about a second, there were 10 or 20 piranha hanging off it.

Then they let little children try it, too. All I could do is yell at the video: "GET THOSE KIDS AWAY FROM THAT! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU??"

    Piranha are my new fear.

    1. People are messed up! Anyone who lets their kids do that, doesn't deserve to have kids!

  21. Debussy is one of my favorites!

Seems like I should like something named Flappy Bird! I don't do video games though. And during breakfast I just talk to my wife or read the paper if I'm doing anything at all.

  22. Aw, Bubba! lol!

And I'm afraid of all the things you are. Especially the cave diving, for all the reasons you gave. Waaay too much could go wrong there. And believe it or not, I already knew how to pronounce Debussy. ;)

    1. I was cringing while reading what you're scared to do. Anyone who dares to do those things must love to tempt fate too much ..oh dear! I shiver at the thought of cave diving. Today while We were riding a motor boat on a lake probably infested with water snakes and crocodiles, I shrieked when a wave caught me when the boat man was racing with another boat.
