Our hundred pound German Shepherd, Schultz, has a new trick. It's called the Flying Carpet Ride.
I couldn't believe the first time I saw it. I was sitting at my computer, typing another chapter of my work in progress, when the furry beast ran into the front hall at a breakneck speed. He jumped, landed on the area rug that's in front of our door, and skidded across the hard wood floor.
"What the heck, Schultz?" I said.
He got off the rug and looked at me with his big pink tongue hanging out and a huge smile plastered on his silly face.
I shook my head and continued typing.
Fifteen minutes later, the nutcase ran into the hall and did it again.
Obviously the beast has had some experience doing this. I don't know how he discovered that the carpet slides when he runs and jumps on it, but it seems to be his new favorite game.
What will the dog think of next?
(I'm sorry, I don't have a video of this. If I ever catch him in the act, and am able to film it, I'll post it. It's hilarious!)
I bet he has a blast doing that! Maybe your kids taught him or he saw one of them doing it?ReplyDelete
I think he figured it out himself. There's another German Shepherd in the neighborhood, that he doesn't seem to like. He runs to the door when he sees her and starts barking. I bet on one of those occasions, he slid on carpet and discovered how much fun it was.Delete
That would be a great video to post on YouTube!!!ReplyDelete
It would. I hope one day I catch him in the act.Delete
That is so funny! I can just picture it. Thanks for my laugh of the day!ReplyDelete
It really is funny. The dog is like a little kid!Delete
Awwww. Beautifully described. Dogs are such darlings - and I am always amazed with the things they're able to do.ReplyDelete
He has a creative little mind. When he was a puppy, he used to remove the coverings of the vents on the floor, and put his dog bowls in them. Crazy!Delete
I'm laughing. I think it happened as a accident and he liked it, so he continued. Just hope Bubba doesn't copy him.ReplyDelete
I'm sure that's what happened. I hope Bubba doesn't copy him, too!Delete
probably a part of cat's plan in which in a later phase the cat will open the door while the dog is sliding and then close it behind himReplyDelete
Haha! You have to watch those tricky cats!Delete
That's a wonderful dog!ReplyDelete
He's quite a character!Delete
That must have been so funny, Sherry. Wish you had a video. Schultz probably wants to be famous so he wants everyone to know about his talents.ReplyDelete
Schultz should be famous. He's brilliant!Delete
haha stepped on the mat one day and saw it moved. Then the game was onReplyDelete
It's funny how they learn things.Delete
Pat does it all the time. Except when he happens to be on Bora Bora. Of course.Delete
Maybe he saw Tom Cruise in Risky Business.ReplyDelete
Haha! Maybe. ;0)Delete
I know I did. But I wasn't eye-balling Tom....Delete
Mam I would love to watch the movie next time.ReplyDelete
If I can catch him doing it when I have a video camera, I'll show you. You'd think it was funny.Delete
I can imagine a dog having a great time sliding on the carpet. Sounds like a hoot to watch him do that!ReplyDelete
My moms dogs do the same thing! Well, all except one. The biggest dog is literally scared of wet floors and anything else that is slick and might make him fall. He'll try to eat planes, garbage trucks, has sent people running up a tree to hide when he got loose and went on a trot (no, really, like a horse) because he's so big. But if you mop the floors, he starts crying.ReplyDelete
Awww. What a big baby! Dogs are like people - they have their own personalities.Delete
Aw, this is way too adorable!ReplyDelete
It's really funny!Delete
One of my cats moves rugs around. He kicks his back legs so hard when he runs. He doesn't ride them, though.ReplyDelete
Probably if he was bigger, he would!Delete
Sounds like fun to me! (Now to make sure none of my four grab this idea, lol.)ReplyDelete
Haha! It would be entertaining if they did.Delete
What fun you have in your household, wish I was a neighbour.ReplyDelete
My neighbors probably think we're nuts. (They're right!) ;0)Delete
My dog will chase a ball all day long; when she gets to the kitchen she will begin a long slide - right into the wall.ReplyDelete
Schultz does the slide, too. It's so funny when he collides with the wall.Delete
That's great! I love it when dogs and cats come up with fun ways to entertain themselves (and their humans).ReplyDelete
There's no shortage of things they think of!Delete
hey we all gotta have fun....
maybe you should try it...
could be you are missing out...
Now that would be really funny!Delete
