Before I begin my story, I want to let you all know that I'm giving away copies of each of my three books (That Baby Woke Me Up, AGAIN, That Mama is a Grouch, and Ten Zany Birds). If you're on Facebook, you can follow this link, and it will take you to the page where the giveaway is. Just leave a comment for your chance to win. The giveaway will be up through Sunday.
And now for the story.
"Mama," my twelve-year-old son said. "I'm going to invent a cure for everything."
"You are?" I asked. I couldn't wait to hear about this.
"Yes. Do you know how?"
"I have no idea."
"I'm going to take every vaccine that was ever created, and mix them together. It'll be a super vaccine."
I raised my eyebrows. "You're sure that would work?"
He nodded. "Pretty sure. But I'd test it on chipmunks just to double check."
Okay. I think Alvin and the gang had better run. My mad scientist has big plans!
(I wonder if it would cure hiccups.)
Maybe he'll try it on Chip and Dale first.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they'd appreciate being the guinea pigs.
DeleteHi, Sherry!
ReplyDeleteI love how your son Bubba always thinks big. Clearly he is well on his way to becoming an entrepreneur. Please inform Bubba that I would like to step up to the plate and proudly volunteer to be his first human guinea pig. :)
Have a wonderful weekend, dear friend Sherry!
You're a brave man. I don't think I'd be so brave! Have a terrific weekend!
DeleteThose chipmunks may be singing in a whole other tone after that.
ReplyDeleteHaha! They definitely wouldn't sound like themselves.
DeleteSomehow, I see this becoming some sort of super virus that could destroy the world... Okay, too much 12 Monkeys for me.
ReplyDeleteI would certainly hope it wouldn't turn into that!
DeleteAt least his heart is in the right place. :)
ReplyDeleteHe has some pretty big ideas.
DeleteLove that he is thinking about it...now to perfect his idea. :-)
ReplyDeleteI think it's going to require a lot of perfection.
DeleteI can't help but wonder--why chipmunks? LOL! But saving the world from disease is a wonderful goal to have. :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe he thought it was time to let another creature be a guinea pig. Rats and monkeys are used way too much. Yes, it is a good goal to have!
DeleteHe has great plans that son of yours. He'll go far.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
I hope so!
DeleteNo question at all. Your son is brilliant. Chipmunks?
ReplyDeleteI was wondering about that, too.
DeleteWho knows? I might really work! But I agree chipmunks in your area better keep a low profile, just in case...
ReplyDeleteI heard from Deanie you got a Purple Dragonfly award. Congrats!
So nice of Deanie to share the good news about the award. Thanks for the congrats!
DeleteAwww...hope he does it!
ReplyDeleteMaybe he'll win the Nobel prize, too. :)
DeleteNo animal testing, please. Use . . . I can't write his name. He's someone in politics who is all over the news.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I know how you feel about he who shall not be named. ;-)
DeleteHe may be on to something with the mad mixing.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be funny if it worked?
DeleteHe has quite the imagination... you never know he might actually come up with something when he is grown xox
ReplyDeleteYes, he might. He certainly has quite an imagination.
DeleteMad scientists have created an awful lot of good stuff in the world.
ReplyDeleteYes, they have. Maybe Bubba will add more good stuff.
DeleteHe certainly will join the ranks of scientists!
ReplyDeleteYes, he will.
DeleteLOL. Hope those poor chipmunks know a good hiding place! XD
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen chipmunks at my place in a while. I think our cat has scared them all away.
DeleteLol, that's hilarious! You'd be so ill after taking that vaccine, ha ha. The hiccup cure is all in the breathing, to realign your diaphragm again.
ReplyDeleteRaindrops of Sapphire
I've heard that you should push your fist into your stomach just under the diaphragm and hold your breath as long as you can. I haven't tried that, but next time I have hiccups, I'll see if it works.
DeleteYikes! That sounds scary--for the chipmunks. I could use a good cure for hiccups though.
ReplyDeleteSee above for the hiccups cure.
DeleteI'm not sure the chipmunks would be a 'go' for that, but it would be interesting to watch your son try. LOL Honestly, I love his thought process though. He wants to help people. Nothing wrong with that.
ReplyDeleteYes. There would definitely be a chipmunk objection.
DeleteHe has a good heart. A super vaccine sounds wonderful.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly does.
DeleteA vaccine to cure all would be so good to have available.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure many would appreciate it!
DeleteIf worse comes to worse, exploding, projectile vomiting chipmunks are kind of funny?
ReplyDeleteIn a sick, twisted sort of way they are.
DeleteOh wow, your kid dreams big! Awesome giveaway & good luck to all. Have a lovely week, dear!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Shirley. You too!
DeleteThat would be very bad!
