I know you've all been sitting on the edge of your chairs waiting to find out who won the Amazon gift cards and books, so I won't keep you in suspense anymore. Here they are:
Winners of the gift cards: Heather Holden, Susanne Drazic, and Pat Hatt (Yes, Pat - cat got lucky. I had any extra card!)
Winner of That Mama is a Grouch: Maria Dunn
Winner of That Baby Woke Me Up, AGAIN: Deanne Humphrys-Dunne.
Congratulations! Thanks to all who commented, and a big thanks to everyone who follows this blog!
Now for the story:
"Woman!" my husband said. "Happy Mother's Day!"
I looked at the man. "Why, thank you, but Mother's Day isn't until Sunday."
"I know. But I got you a present."
"What?" I asked.
"It's in the driveway."
Since last year he got me a toilet for Mother's Day, I figured this would probably be just as good. "What is it? A pile of horse manure?" I asked.
He laughed. "Close!"
I went outside to have a look. Do you know what it was? Nine cubic yards of steaming hot mulch!
"Gee, thanks," I said.
He walked back in the house. "Have fun with it!"
(In all fairness, my husband did give me a spa gift certificate last year in addition to the toilet. And he didn't make me install it. But I did have to help haul it to the curb!)
Okay - one more thing: I'm a guest over at VS Grenier's Blog, Indie and Debut Author Interviews. If you'd like to read about my book, That Baby Woke Me Up, AGAIN, please stop by!
Oh, boy! What a gift! NOT!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Ha! My sentiments exactly!
DeleteA gardener would love that gift. Shoveling and placing it is the hard work. Don't do it on Mother's Day, only do what you want to do on that day.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winners!!
Normally, I don't mind mulching, since I'm the gardener. But I have so much on my plate right now trying to get ready for the move, that this is something I just don't want to deal with!
DeleteCongratulations to the winners!
ReplyDeleteThat's not my kind of gift—I'm more an indoors kind of girl—but I hope you enjoy it. Just don't do all the work yourself. ☺
Have a great Wednesday.
Ha! I can almost bet you that I'll be the one who does it all!
DeleteMaybe there's a spa gift certificate hidden in the mulch. :)
ReplyDeleteHaven't found it yet. I'll let you know if I do. ;)
DeleteWow that is one creative gift, maybe?
ReplyDeleteOnly if there's a spa gift certificate under it! ;)
DeleteLucky, yipeee, sent an email to thee.
ReplyDeleteMaybe there is something buried there and you have to go digging? lol
I've started digging. I haven't found anything yet. I'll let you know if I do. :)
DeleteThanks for the gift card! : ) CONGRATS to all the winners!
ReplyDeleteStopped by and checked out your interview.
Hot mulch? Oh boy. : )
Thanks for stopping by the interview. I don't know what happened to the comment section over there. It seems to have disappeared.
DeleteYou had a toilet on the curb and you didn't tell me!?
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of my thing, you know.
I know! I was thinking about you. It would've made for a very nice picture on your page!
DeleteThank you so much, Sherry. I'm really excited about reading your book and I'll stop by to check out your interview.
ReplyDeleteI'll bet the hot mulch will keep you awfully busy for awhile. Is anyone else elected to the helper detail? I hope so for your sake.
Nope. I'm the main mulcher.
DeleteThanks for stopping by the interview site!
A great gift.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Maria and Deanne.
Yvonne.
Do you want to help me with my great gift? :) (Just kidding!)
DeleteI'm glad I told my husband fine jewelry makes a fine gift when we started dating. :)
ReplyDeleteYou were the smart one!
DeleteI can't believe I'm one of the winners. Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd wow, that Mother's Day gift is certainly...umm...original? I think I'm starting to see where Bubba gets his creativity from... XD
Ha! Yes, Bubba is a chip off the old block! Happy belated Birthday!
DeleteI still remember the toilet story.
ReplyDeleteYour husband sounds very practical.
Well, that's being generous. ;) I think he's crazy. But he thinks I'm crazy, too, so I guess we're even.
DeleteHa! One year I got a tractor tire. Your hubs and mine should talk-
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! I think our men think alike! LOL!
DeleteSherry, I nominated you for another award. Just couldn't resist this one. Please go to; www.dhdunne.blogspot.com to find out more. Happy Mother's Day!
