The Day of Mayonaise

Yesterday, was Cinco de Mayo - a big party day for Americans and the fine folks in Mexico. (Personally I think it's just an excuse to drink a lot of alcohol.) Anyway, my son learned about this day  in school. But before he did, he had to take a test to see what he already knew. Here's how that went:

Question:  What does Cinco de Mayo mean?

My Son's Answer:  Hold the Mayo.

Question:  What does Cinco de Mayo celebrate?

My Son's Answer:  The glorious existence of mayonnaise.

So there you go, ladies and gentlemen. Cinco de Mayo is all about mayonnaise. Bet you had no idea!

Before I go, I'd like to wish all moms a very Happy Mother's Day! (We celebrate here in the United States this Sunday.)

  1. No, I didn't.
And surprised someone hasn't made either beer-flavored Mayo or vice versa.

    1. You joke, but just remember that no matter how terrible it sounds, somewhere, somehow, some hipster has brewed it.

  3. Deep sigh. A whole day devoted to mayonnaise...? Well, then again, they have whole days for talking like a pirate and ice cream, so why not mayonnaise?

  4. Hi, Sherry!

Actually, Bubba is on the right track. South of the border, "Cinco de Mayo" is an expression customers in restaurants use when ordering to indicate that they want 5 times the usual amount of Mayo on their sandwiches. :)

I hope Bubba is on the mend. His imagination and sense of humor are in great shape! :)

I wish you a happy Mother's Day, dear friend Sherry!

  9. If someone had pronounced it for him instead of him reading it, and he heard the "i" sound instead of seeing the "a", who knows what he might of come up with. I can see he has a political future!

I'll have all my family here tomorrow after church! The kids are cooking fish and frog legs.

Side note: Mexico celebrates Mother's Day on the 10th.

    1. That's funny you should mention Bubba's political future. He has a keen interest in politics.

Fish and frog legs? Uh, not so sure I'd want to be stopping by your place for dinner. ;-) Enjoy!
