Two announcements before I share my story: First, I'm a guest over at the A-Z Blog Challenge blog. It's all about the A-Z posts I did on my other blog, Gone Gardening. Gardening is something I do when my animal cracker crew drives me crazy. I also like to visit gardens. If you want to read more, please hop over!
Also, I found out that Gone Gardening is a finalist in Karen's blogs of the year. It's listed under "Best Kept Secret." Thank you so much, Karen and everyone who nominated me! If you like my gardening blog, please stop by and vote!
Now for the story: Every kid in my neighborhood must've known that I was baking my famous chocolate chip cookies. They swarmed my pad and gathered around while I made them. Of course, they couldn't keep their little paws out of the cookie batter bowl.
"Hey, kids," I said. "If you eat all the cookie dough, I won't have enough to make the cookies!" I directed them over to the table where some pottery clay was. "Go make something with this." I left them to their own devices while I finished the cookies.
Not long afterwards, another kid came into my house. He smelled the cookies. He also saw the clay on the table. Thinking it was cookie dough, he started to pop that stuff into his mouth.
"Whoa," I said. "That's not cookie dough! That's clay. Don't eat the clay!"
That's all I needed - a kid needing hospitalization because he ate pottery clay!
hahaha thought he was getting in on the act. Could have become Clayman though.
ReplyDeleteLOL! That would've been bad!
DeleteYikes! Did the clay look that tasty? LOL Glad you caught him before he ate it. :) Very cool about your gardening blog being a finalist! Congrats!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I caught him, too!
DeleteThanks for the congrats!
LOL Kids! Act first, ask questions later. ;)
ReplyDeleteExactly!
DeleteCongratulations on the award for your Garden blog. I love all the photos there. Off to vote now ...
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Delete*LOL* I wonder if the clay was tasty. At my son's preschool, they put cinnamon into their homemade playdough and it smelled yummy like gingerbread cookies. I wonder how many kids ate it!
ReplyDeleteWhy in the world would a teacher do that? Of course the kids are going to try to eat it!
DeleteLike another poster had mentioned, sometimes play clay smells pretty good!
ReplyDeleteYep. Just like chocolate chip cookie dough!
Deletelol.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly!
DeleteCongratulations on becoming a finalist! And clay is the best tasting stuff going! Doesn't every one know that? :P
ReplyDeleteYeah! Maybe my son should write a song, "Eat clay, eat clay...Everybody eat clay!"
DeleteRemember the Doris Day movie -- Please Don't Eat The Daisies? I think you're the Doris Day of the blogosphere.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
LOL! I kind of like that!
DeleteNom, nom! ;) I remember chewing on clay when I was little. Not something I'd want to do now. Ha!
ReplyDeleteYum, I would love to try your chocolate chip cookies. :) I remember wanting to eat PlayDoh. :)
ReplyDeleteIf you didn't live so far away, I'd send you a package of them. They'd be stale by the time they got to you if I tried that now.
DeleteGlad you didn't eat the PlayDoh!
