Movie Night

Last night I decided to chill out and have a movie night with my kids. (My husband is in Atlanta house hunting, so I figured it would be a fun thing to do with them.)  We selected, Meet Dave, with Eddie Murphy.  (The movie was hilarious - you'll have to watch it if you haven't already.)

I sat down on  the sofa. Two seconds later:  "Mama, can you make us some popcorn?"

"Sure," I said.  What's movie night without popcorn?  I got up and made some.

I sat back down.  "Mama, can you put some melted butter on this?"

I looked at my son.  "Really?  Butter is not good for you.  Can't you have it without?"

"No, Mama.  I need butter!"

I got up and melted butter and poured it over the popcorn.

Ten minutes later:  "Mama, can you get me a napkin?"

"Can't you get it yourself?"

"No, Mama.  My hands are all buttery, and you'll get mad if I get butter on the cupboards."

I sighed and got the kid a napkin.

"Mama, I need water."

"Bubba, get it yourself!"

"But I can't reach the glasses!"

I got the kid some water. "Now stop pestering me.  I want to watch this movie!"

"But Mama, I need a back rub!"

"Bubba, I'm not giving you a backrub!"

"How about a foot massage?"  Bubba shoved his little feet on my lap.

Grrr.  Now I know why I rarely watch movies!

  2. Maybe you need your own personal movie night after the kids are in bed.

  3. We have not seen this movie yet. Is it good, at least from the parts you've seen? Buttered popcorn and massage sounds like a great combo :)

    1. Arni - The movie is very funny - typical Eddie Murphy humor. My boy has it all figured out with his request for buttered popcorn and a massage!

Tracy - I hope Bubba's future wife thinks he rocks with all his demands! ;)

  6. Kids movie night is so much different than adult movie night. Kind of like the difference between a camping vacation with the whole family and private night away in a 5-star hotel--LOL!

  13. Hmmm, doesn't sound like your part of movie night was as much fun as Bubba's. My husband and I had movie night last night. We watched Skyfall (a James Bond movie). Wouldn't have been my choice in a movie, but my husband really likes it.

    1. Isn't it funny how movie night usually ends up being the guy's choice?

  14. Even movie night at your house is full of adventure and funny little anecdotes. Sorry it wasn't as relaxing as it could have been for you, though.
Hope the house hunting is progressing well.

    1. My husband saw a lot of houses, but only two caught his eye. And those weren't perfect for one reason or another. He'll go back down and look again in a couple of weeks.

  15. *LOL* Bubba is hilarious! My little guy isn't quite old enough for movie nights yet, but I'm eager to start them. But there will be no foot rubs! Well, unless it's my feet being rubbed. :)

  16. How about a foot rub? That's a good one too.

That kid is a gold mine.
