Automatic Pilot

This morning, as I was going about my usual morning routine, I was thinking about all the things I had to get done. When that happens, I really don't pay too much attention to anything that's going on around me.

I went into my son's room and opened the window blinds. After they were opened, I heard a voice. It came from the bed. "Why is it so bright in here?"

Oops. Bubba was still in bed. Sleeping. He opened a groggy eye and looked at me.

"Uh, sorry about that," I said, quickly closing the blinds. "Go back to sleep. Mama is just on automatic pilot!"

  1. Depending on what time it was, maybe he should get his butt out of bed...

    1. I think it was 7:30 AM. Since it's summer, I let him sleep longer. He's catching up on all the lost sleep from getting up at the crack of dawn during the school year.

  2. I hated when I would get woken up like that. I could handle being woken up, but being blinded by the sun always made me want to hide under the covers. My mom would be on automatically pilot a lot also but she called it "tunnel vision" because she couldn't see anything else. lol

  4. I accidentally delete emails when I'm on automatic pilot, because I grab for my phone first thing since I use its alarm. Then I have to go in the trash or archive to retrieve the important ones.

    1. That would be a pain! Hopefully that doesn't happen often.

  5. Well he wasn't planning how to "Get Mum" if he was sleeping, but one never knows what he was dreaming about.

  6. At least he will awaken without a brass band by his bed. If sleeping were an Olympic sport my oldest would have won the gold by a snore!

  10. If he's like my kids, he fell right back to sleep and probably didn't even remember it happened later.
