Sea Monkeys

"Mama," my eight-year-old son said. "I want a pet sea monkey."

"A what?" I said. I pictured some kind of aquatic creature hanging from stag horn coral munching on bananas.

" A sea monkey.  They were around during the time of the dinosaurs."

"Bubba, we're getting ready to move, and we certainly don't need any more pets!" (I'm trying to figure out how we're going to move the ones we have!)

"But Mama, they're really small, and I'll take care of them!"

"No, Bubba.  No sea monkeys!"

"But do you at least want to see how cute they are?"

I looked at the boy.  "Fine.  I'll take a look at them."

We pulled up a You tube video:

Okay.  After about a minute of watching them, I've determined that I've had quite enough of sea monkeys!  What about you?

  5. LOL I actually had some of those when I was a kid! Looking at the video, I wonder why I wanted them. :)

  6. Oooo. They're creepy. :-)
I meant to comment on your Facebook page last night about moving.
Wow, you're going to be busier than ever.
All the best with your move, Sherry. :-)

When's the big day? If you want to share that. If not, no worries. :-)

  9. They're actually just brine shrimp. I used to work in pet shops and we had to hatch them out to feed saltwater fish that would only eat live food. They're very small. So small that it is difficult to feed them or keep them alive for any length of time. Bubba would probably like a goldfish better. It would have a much better chance of living longer than the brine shrimp. ;) But wait until after you move--yes! :):)

  10. They're actually just fish food. I remember them in the back of comic books when I was a kid. Sounds like they sell them the same way.

  11. I watched them for 10 seconds. That was enough.

  14. I LOVE sea monkeys! They are so awesome. I had some when I was a kid, I just never figured out how to get them to do tricks. If you find out, please let me know. :P

  15. Hey! They look NOTHING like their picture in the back of comic books. They're not wearing crowns, neither one is smoking a pipe, and the female (?) isn't wearing pearls.
Now I'm really starting to think those X-Ray specs are jive. I bet they won't let me see under womens' clothes, too.

  24. Those sea monkeys look kind of scary. Nothing like the pictures I remember seeing on the back of comic books advertising them for sale.

Good luck with everything involved in moving.
