Last night, my eight-year-old son was supposed to do some star gazing for a school project. Unfortunately, the weather was not very cooperative. A thick blanket of clouds covered the sky.
"Bubba," I said. "You're not going to be able to see anything tonight."
He stared up at the sky. "Oh yes I can, Mama. I have x-ray vision!"
I laughed at the little man. "Really?"
"Yeah." He pointed to a spot over the trees. "The moon is right over there," he said.
I looked at the spot. I didn't see anything. "Are you sure about that?"
He nodded. "Just keep watching."
I did. And guess what? The clouds cleared for a brief nanosecond, and the moon appeared right where he said it would.
I guess the kid really does have x-ray vision!
Next he'll be flying and leaping tall buildings in a single bound.
ReplyDeleteI think you're right!
DeleteLOL Ditto Pat's comment!
ReplyDeleteDitto mine to Pat!
DeleteHave you had any visits from a guy in a red cape, lately? :)
ReplyDeleteNo, but I'm sure one is coming. ;)
DeleteWe gave The Hurricane a telescope for Christmas when she was in third grade. I loved using it to spy on the neighbors. You should get one for Bubba. It could come in very handy when you move and you need to get to know the new neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Ha! We have binoculars for that.
DeleteOr your son knows his constellation maps. Does he follow the NASA site? If he has interest in space, they have programs just for kids, they can get on newsletters, etc.
ReplyDeleteA stargazer is a good thing to have in the family.
I'm not sure he's all that interested in space, but if he is, I will certainly look up programs like the one you mentioned. Thanks for the suggestion.
DeleteWow! Bubba has super powers. He might even be clairvoyant or something unusual like that!
ReplyDeleteHa! Something like that!
DeleteHe really is a wonderful boy to have around the place.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
Yes, he's very entertaining.
DeleteHe's a superhero in the making! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure he has a stash of kryptonite somewhere!
DeleteHello and greetings, Sherry! I'm brand-spanking-new to the site, discovering you via the A to Z challenge.

DeleteI love it! How sweet - how old is your son again?
ReplyDeleteHe's eight.
DeleteI like how sure he is, when he said, "Just Keep Watching."
ReplyDeleteHe's a very confident young man!
DeleteLOL :D funny
ReplyDeleteGlad it made you smile.
DeleteDelightful! Patience is not something easily taught.
ReplyDeleteHe can be very patient for some things, but not so patient with others.
DeleteKeep him away from kryptonite...
ReplyDeleteI think he has a stash somewhere. I'll have to find it and confiscate!
DeleteI love the way Bubba thinks... he has to be the most adorable child!
