Last night, my eight-year-old son was supposed to do some star gazing for a school project. Unfortunately, the weather was not very cooperative. A thick blanket of clouds covered the sky.
"Bubba," I said. "You're not going to be able to see anything tonight."
He stared up at the sky. "Oh yes I can, Mama. I have x-ray vision!"
I laughed at the little man. "Really?"
"Yeah." He pointed to a spot over the trees. "The moon is right over there," he said.
I looked at the spot. I didn't see anything. "Are you sure about that?"
He nodded. "Just keep watching."
I did. And guess what? The clouds cleared for a brief nanosecond, and the moon appeared right where he said it would.
I guess the kid really does have x-ray vision!
Next he'll be flying and leaping tall buildings in a single bound.ReplyDelete
I think you're right!Delete
LOL Ditto Pat's comment!ReplyDelete
Ditto mine to Pat!Delete
Have you had any visits from a guy in a red cape, lately? :)ReplyDelete
No, but I'm sure one is coming. ;)Delete
We gave The Hurricane a telescope for Christmas when she was in third grade. I loved using it to spy on the neighbors. You should get one for Bubba. It could come in very handy when you move and you need to get to know the new neighborhood.ReplyDelete
Ha! We have binoculars for that.Delete
Or your son knows his constellation maps. Does he follow the NASA site? If he has interest in space, they have programs just for kids, they can get on newsletters, etc.ReplyDelete
A stargazer is a good thing to have in the family.
I'm not sure he's all that interested in space, but if he is, I will certainly look up programs like the one you mentioned. Thanks for the suggestion.Delete
Wow! Bubba has super powers. He might even be clairvoyant or something unusual like that!ReplyDelete
Ha! Something like that!Delete
He really is a wonderful boy to have around the place.ReplyDelete
Yes, he's very entertaining.Delete
He's a superhero in the making! :)ReplyDelete
I'm sure he has a stash of kryptonite somewhere!Delete
Hello and greetings, Sherry! I'm brand-spanking-new to the site, discovering you via the A to Z challenge.ReplyDelete
What a sweet vignette you drew for us!
Lovely to meet you, and I'll be back around soon!
Thanks for stopping by!Delete
I love it! How sweet - how old is your son again?ReplyDelete
I like how sure he is, when he said, "Just Keep Watching."ReplyDelete
He's a very confident young man!Delete
LOL :D funnyReplyDelete
Glad it made you smile.Delete
Delightful! Patience is not something easily taught.ReplyDelete
He can be very patient for some things, but not so patient with others.Delete
Keep him away from kryptonite...ReplyDelete
I think he has a stash somewhere. I'll have to find it and confiscate!Delete
I love the way Bubba thinks... he has to be the most adorable child!ReplyDelete
