Hello from the Other Side

Yesterday, my phone rang.

I picked it up. Someone on the other end started singing the Adele song, Hello. That someone sounded strangely familiar.

It was my daughter.

"Uh, girlfriend," I said. "Aren't you upstairs in your room?"

"Yes," she said.

"And you're calling me on your cell phone instead of walking downstairs to talk to me?"

"Yes. I'm on the other side. And I'd like to know what you're making for lunch."

I shook my head. "Well, I guess you're going to have to walk the million miles that are between us to find out!"

Oy!

For those who haven't heard enough of Hello, here it is:

  2. Reminds me of the commercial where a boy calls his grandmother in the other room. Really? Get up and move, kids!
And true, she could have texted...

  4. I love Adele... I have to say I'm guilty of texting my daughter in the other room. Not because I don't want to get up but I definitely don't want to yell over and over... she wears her big headphones xox... ♡

    1. It's a little hard to communicate when headphones are involved.

    1. Adele has a great voice, and I think it's a good song, but I agree that it has been overplayed.

  7. Hi, Sherry!

When she asked what you're making for lunch you should have sung the Weird Al song "My Bologna." :)

It's when they stop communicating with you entirely that you need to start worrying. :)

  10. My cousins used to have intercoms in their house. Now who needs intercoms? We've all got cell phones.

  15. THAT is FUNNY. Your daughter has a good sense of humor! (My hubby and I used to IM each other when our offices were right next to each other, lol) The song is beautiful, too!
